Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to Oide’s Droichead Induction Division and maintaining your trust is important to us. We are fully committed to keeping your personal information safe. We will comply with the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and all other relevant data protection legislation. If we ask another organisation to provide a service for us, we will seek to ensure that they are also in compliance. This Privacy Policy is intended to provide you with information about personally identifiable information we collect about you and how that personal information is used and shared.

Any reference to the “Service” within this Privacy Policy includes “Oide” (“Oide”, “Oide’s Droichead Induction Division), “we” or “us”), our website at onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie (the “Site”) – including the use of our online workshops (the “System”), other services provided by us and on which a link to this Privacy Policy is displayed and all other communications with individuals through written or oral means such as email or phone (collectively, together with the Site and System, our “Service”).

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the information that we gather on or through the Service, how we use and disclose such information and the steps we take to protect such information. By visiting the Site, the System or by using the Service (registering for and engaging with our online workshops), you accept the privacy practices described in this Policy.

Oide’s Droichead Induction Division will intermittently update this Privacy Policy. If we make major changes, we will notify you prior to the changes taking effect by posting a notice on our website and where appropriate, sending you a notification. By continuing to use our “Service” after such revisions are in effect, you accept and agree to the revisions.

Information We Collect:
When you register as a “User” on onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie, and as you use our services and interact with us, we collect personally identifiable information about you i.e. your profile (your name, surname, Teaching Council Registration Number, email address, city/town location, local education centre,) and/or similar.

How We Use Your Information:
We will collect your profile solely to provide access to your registration area, to generate and view your record of participation in our online workshop provisions in conjunction with maintaining your workshop completion and certification record(s). Once you complete an online workshop, we will send this information to Donegal Education Support Centre. Donegal Education Support Centre are administrators of the Induction Workshop Programme. On completion of your 20-hour Induction Programme Requirement, Donegal Education Support Centre will forward this record to the Teaching Council so that your Teaching Council Registration can be updated there. We will not use your collected data for any other purpose or to send you any commercial advertisements.

How We Share Your Information:
With the exception of the sharing of information as outlined in this Privacy Policy, we will not share, rent or sell your personally identifiable information to others. We may store personal information in locations outside the direct control of Oide e.g. on servers or databases provided by our hosting provider. Management, security and integrity of data storage are under the direct responsibility of our hosting provider company and are governed by the privacy policy of the organisation providing the hosting service.

Storage and Processing:
The information we collect about you through Oide’s onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie site may be stored and processed in Europe by our third-party hosting provider. The management, security and integrity of data storage are the direct responsibility of our hosting provider and are governed by the privacy policy of those hosting organisations.

How We Protect Your Information:
No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Oide is concerned with protecting your privacy and data, but we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or guarantee that your information on the onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie “Site”, “System”, “Service” may not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by breach of any of our business standard physical, technical or managerial safeguards. When you enter sensitive information (such as log-in credentials) on our registration or order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

Access and Retention of Data Controlled by Our Users:
For existing/current onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie “System” users, you can review, correct, or update your current profile by logging into your profile e.g. to update your password. We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. In this regard, relevant data will be stored by Oide for a period of 7 years. This data may be shared between the Oide Droichead Induction administrative offices and/or the Teaching Council. Onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie Workshops (Contract):
Oide’s Droichead Induction Division, through its onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie site provides a suite of online courses for Primary and Post-primary Teachers. To register and enrol for these workshops you will, in the first instance, need to be a registered “User” on our “System”. By enrolling on an online workshop with us, you agree that your personal information is being processed in the manner described in this Privacy Policy.

We use the personal information (your profile) which you provide to us to administer and manage courses. We will collect your profile solely to provide access to your registration area, to generate and view your record of participation in our workshops, to maintain your workshop attendance and certification(s) records and to share confirmation of workshop completion with Donegal Education Support Centre. We will use the email address you provide for the purpose of communicating with you directly if you have any queries/concerns. We may also collect and store information provided by you to consider your CPD requirements i.e. needs analysis for the purpose of designing workshop content and/or evaluating the quality of our provision /service to you.

Your personal information may be shared with our third-party Education partners as mentioned above, professional development support personnel, trainers, facilitators, tutors and various education bodies and agencies under the remit of the Department of Education (DE) or other relevant Government agencies and organisations.

In communication with us (Legitimate Interest):
If you correspond with us, we will collect information such as your name, phone number and email address and any other personal information contained within the communication and use it to respond to your enquiry. We process this information in pursuit of our legitimate interests i.e. providing continuing personal and professional development for teachers and school communities and implementing our statutory remit.
